Party Deletion

Party Deletion in Open Cloud MDM allows users to permanently remove a party, along with its related child objects, and associated entities from the Operational Data Store (ODS) and the history tables. This feature provides a way to manage and clean up your MDM data when parties are no longer relevant or have ended their business relationships. It's important to note that the ability to delete parties is always available and cannot be configured off.

Example Use Cases:

  1. Terminated Business Relationship:
    • Description: If a party, such as a customer or vendor, no longer has a business relationship with your company, you can use Party Deletion to remove all records and history associated with that party from your data.
    • Use Case: A customer has closed their account with your company, and you want to remove all their data and history from the MDM system to keep your records clean and up-to-date.
  2. Data Cleanup:
    • Description: Over time, MDM databases can accumulate outdated or redundant party records. Party Deletion can be used to perform periodic data cleanup by removing parties that are no longer relevant or needed.
    • Use Case: Your MDM system has multiple outdated party records that were created for testing purposes. You want to delete these records to improve data quality and reduce clutter in the system.
  3. Compliance with Data Privacy Regulations:
    • Description: Data privacy regulations, such as GDPR, may require the deletion of personal data upon request. Party Deletion can help ensure compliance by permanently removing party records containing sensitive personal information.
    • Use Case: A customer requests that their personal data be deleted from your MDM system in accordance with data privacy regulations. You use Party Deletion to remove all traces of their data.
  4. Mergers and Acquisitions:
    • Description: In scenarios involving mergers or acquisitions, duplicate party records may exist in the MDM system. Party Deletion can be used to eliminate duplicate records and consolidate data.
    • Use Case: After a merger, two companies' MDM systems are combined, resulting in duplicate customer records. Party Deletion is employed to remove duplicates and maintain a single, accurate customer database.
  5. Reorganization or Restructuring:
    • Description: When a company undergoes reorganization or restructuring, some parties and their associated data may become obsolete. Party Deletion can help streamline the database.
    • Use Case: Your organization has restructured its departments, and certain party records related to old departments are no longer needed. Party Deletion is used to remove these obsolete records.
  6. Data Retention Policies:
    • Description: Companies may have data retention policies that specify how long certain types of data should be kept. Party Deletion can be part of the data retention strategy to delete data when it reaches its expiration date.
    • Use Case: Your company's data retention policy dictates that customer records older than five years should be deleted. Party Deletion is applied to remove these aged records.

Party Deletion in Open Cloud MDM is a valuable feature for managing data hygiene, complying with regulations, and ensuring the accuracy and relevance of your MDM database. It can be used in various scenarios to permanently remove parties and their associated data when they are no longer needed or when data privacy and compliance requirements demand it.
